Md. Jahidul Islam is a dedicated government official serving as the Upazila Fisheries Officer in Kalmakanda, Netrokona, since February 27, 2025. Before assuming this role, he worked as a Research Officer at Matsya Bhaban, Ramna. He has also served as the Upazila Fisheries Officer in Nikli, Kishoreganj, and Shantiganj, Sunamganj. During his tenure in Shantiganj, he took on additional responsibilities as the Fisheries Officer for Chhatak, Sunamganj Sadar, Jagannathpur, and Tahirpur Upazilas.
Md. Jahidul Islam was born on February 10, 1991, into a respected Muslim family in Melandah Upazila, Jamalpur District. He completed his secondary education in 2006 from Malancha M.A. Gafur High School, Melandah, Jamalpur, and his higher secondary education in 2008 from Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam College, Mymensingh.
He pursued higher education at Khulna University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries and Marine Resource Technology in 2014 and a Master’s degree in Aquaculture in 2016 from the same department. During his university years, he was a resident student of Khan Jahan Ali Hall.
Md. Jahidul Islam began his career in the Department of Fisheries as a Cadre Officer through the 37th BCS Examination on April 7, 2019. Over the years, he has held key positions, including Upazila Fisheries Officer and Research Officer, demonstrating exceptional dedication and expertise in fisheries management.
He has undergone various training programs both domestically and internationally. Additionally, he serves as a master trainer and instructor in different fisheries technology training programs under the Department of Fisheries. His contributions have significantly impacted the sector’s growth and sustainability.
Md. Jahidul Islam leads a happy family life. He is married and a proud father of a son.
